A Medicare Supplement plan may be a good fit if you want more predictable out-of-pocket costs and the freedom to see any doctor that accepts Medicare.
Medigap works with Original Medicare to help pay certain out-of-pocket costs. Medicare Advantage is a different way to receive your Medicare Part A and Part B benefits through a private plan. You generally cannot use a Medigap policy to pay Medicare Advantage costs.
The right plan depends on your healthcare needs, budget, eligibility, and preferred balance of premiums and out-of-pocket costs. Kimberly can help you compare standardized benefits and insurer prices.
With Original Medicare and Medigap, you can generally visit any doctor or hospital nationwide that accepts Medicare.
Monthly premiums vary by insurance company, plan letter, location, age, and other rating factors. You continue paying your Medicare Part B premium as well.
Your one-time federal Medigap Open Enrollment Period generally begins the first month you're 65 or older and enrolled in Medicare Part B, and lasts six months. Other guaranteed-issue rights may apply.
You may apply to change plans, but outside certain guaranteed-issue situations, an insurer may use medical underwriting or decline your application, depending on applicable rules.
